Which metering pump manufacturers does PCT carry?

PCT carries Pulsafeeder for hydraulically and mechanically actuated diaphragm metering pumps and Pulsatron for solenoid metering pumps, controllers and skids. Griffco supplies the pulsation dampeners and back pressure valves that keep a metering system accurate.

What types of metering pumps does PCT supply?

Metering pumps fall into three main groups: solenoid diaphragm pumps for lower pressure dosing, mechanically actuated diaphragm pumps for general chemical feed, and hydraulically actuated diaphragm pumps for high pressure and critical service.

Solenoid actuated diaphragmWater treatment, disinfection and general chemical dosingPulsatron A+, C+, E+ and MP Series

What makes the PULSAPro Series different?

PULSAPro is Pulsafeeder’s API 675 compliant hydraulic diaphragm metering pump for critical service. It is built for a smaller footprint and long service life, with features that help operators confirm the pump is performing.

  • API 675 3rd Edition compliance
  • 100:1 turndown and steady state accuracy of plus or minus 0.5%
  • 5 year drive train warranty
  • Visual hydraulic performance monitoring and pressurized leak detection

How do you size a chemical metering pump?

Size a metering pump from the chemical feed rate you need at maximum dose, then add margin so the pump runs in the middle of its range. Check the discharge pressure, wetted materials and whether you need a dampener and back pressure valve.

Our step by step guide, how to size a chemical metering pump, walks through the feed rate formula. For piping layout, see metering pump installation.

Frequently asked questions

Is PULSAPro API 675 compliant?

Yes. Pulsafeeder lists the PULSAPro Series as compliant with API 675 3rd Edition.

What is turndown on a metering pump?

Turndown is the range between the highest and lowest flow a pump can deliver accurately. A 100:1 turndown pump can meter accurately down to 1% of its maximum capacity.

Do I need a pulsation dampener with a metering pump?

Most diaphragm metering pumps deliver flow in pulses. A dampener smooths that flow, reduces pipe vibration and protects instruments, and a back pressure valve keeps dosing accurate when discharge pressure is low.

Can PCT supply a complete metering skid?

Yes. PCT supplies metering skids with pumps, calibration columns, dampeners, valves and controls. See pump skid packages.

Which metering pump is best for water treatment?

Solenoid pumps such as the Pulsatron series cover most disinfection and treatment dosing. Larger plants or higher pressures often use Pulsafeeder hydraulic diaphragm pumps. Share your dose and flow and PCT will recommend a size.
